Made between 2018 and 2020, this series was originally triggered by an article in a newspaper, and was meant to be a reportage of a periphery in the north of Lisbon. Since the nineties, Alto do Lumiar has been the centre of a social construction project for rehousing people that used to live in slums. At the same time, part of the area was to be dedicated to the construction of apartment buildings for sale. After thirty years, the Municipality still hasn't completed the project and the area is a ghetto.

While exploring the area, a friendship was born with one of its residents, Jorge. This series of photographs puts the environment, with its contrasts between urban planning and the mismatching realities of life, as the supporting backdrop of a fantastical story.

Alto do Lumiar will be first time exhibited during the Rotterdam Photo Festival between 18th-22th of May during the Art Week Fair.
